Trial: Euromonitor’s Global Market Information Database
January 23, 2009Euromonitor is a primary research firm that publishes business reference information and strategic market reports. They specialize in country and consumer research. They cover many markets, including OTC healthcare, cosmetics and toiletries, packaged food, alcoholic beverages, soft drinks and consumer electronics.

The database contains three sections – Statistics, Market Analysis (reports) and Comments.
The first section contains statistical data. It contains over one million demographic, economic and marketing statistics for 205 countries. Some examples include annual rates of inflation, foreign direct investment, GDP and population. The data sets can reach back as far as 1977 and can be projected through 2020. There is also an extensive amount of coverage looking at market size data. This information tracks the sales of fast moving consumer goods across 80 core countries. The core countries comprise 75% of the world’s population and 90% of the world’s GDP. Consumer market size data is broken into retail value and retail volume terms. The time frame typically covers 10 years including forecast data.
The second section is called market analysis. It contains over 15,000 full text market reports. The reports offer strategic analysis on consumer, industrial and service sectors. The reports are broken down by global reports, country reports, company reports, etc. You can easily access reports using the Browse Analysis feature.
The final section is comments/articles. The articles provide in-depth analysis of the political, economic, consumer and industry trends that affect countries and regions worldwide.
Complementary/Alternative Medicine Databases
November 27, 2008Alt HealthWatch indexes articles, reports, proceedings, pamphlets, booklets, special reports, original research, and book exercepts as well as association and consumer newsletters from over 140 international sources. The trial will end January 15th, 2009. (Source: EBSCO)

AMED is an Allied and Complementary Medicine database produced by the Health Care Information Service of the British Library. It covers a selection of journals in complementary medicine, palliative care, and several professions allied to medicine. The scope is primarily European. The trial will end December 6th, 2008. Natural Standard is “a clinical decision support tool that is designed to help clinicians and consumers on the safety and efficacy of herbs, supplements, vitamins, diets, nutrition, exercise, and complementary practices (yoga, chiropractic ).” It is an international, multidiscplinary, evidence-based information source for complementary and alternative therapies. This resource includes a database of herbs/supplements, health/wellness, allergy/immunology, brand names, and interactions. The trial will end November 28th, 2008.
