World Digital Library Launch On April 21, 2009
April 17, 2009At the UNESCO General Conference in Paris on October 17, 2007 the Library of Congress, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, the National Library of Brazil, the National Library and Archives of Egypt, the National Library of Russia, and the Russian State Library presented a prototype of the future World Digital Library.
Next week is the official launch of this wonderfully promising resource that will give greater access to primary research materials from world cultures. The WDL is in multilingual format and contains a variety of materials, including manuscripts, maps, rare books, musical scores, recordings, films, prints, photographs and architectural drawings.
Extended Library Hours During Exams
March 16, 2009In response to students’ requests, the Bata Library will be extending its opening hours to 2:00 a.m. from Monday, March 23 through Thursday, April 23, 2009. This initiative is made possible with support and funding from the Trent Central Students Association (TCSA).
Exceptions to the 2 a.m. closing are:
Friday, April 3, 2009 – closing at 8 p.m. for Dionysus
Friday, April 10-12, 2009 – Easter weekend hours
Peterborough Transit will offer extended bus service until 2:00 a.m. daily during this period, except for the exceptions noted above. Students planning to stay until closing at 2:00 a.m. are advised to double check the bus schedule daily for information about any changes to the extended service schedule.

Library users will have access to the Trent computer network and study space. Research assistance, circulation and reserves service, and group study rooms will not be available during the extended study hours.
All Library users must show a valid Trent ID in order to gain entry and remain in the Library after the regular closing time of 11 p.m. Two uniformed security personnel will be present to ensure all Library users feel safe and to provide assistance in the event of a medical or personal safety emergency. Library users are expected to comply with posted Library policies regarding appropriate use of the Library and to extend courtesy to other users.

Media Collection Coming Upstairs
February 11, 2009Effective February 23rd, 2009 the Media Collection and media booking services, formerly accessed through IT Media Services, is coming upstairs to the Bata Library.
The media collection comprises approximately 3000 DVDs, CDs, VHS tapes and film. The DVD, CD and VHS collections will be located at the Circulation Desk and the 16mm films are in storage. Pick-up and drop-off of media items will also take place at the Circulation Desk.

BREPOLiS service interruptions
December 17, 2008During the next few days the BREPOLiS databases will migrate to another environment and adopt new search interfaces with enhanced functionalities. The URL http://www.brepolis.net (enter databases) remains the same.
During the migration to the new platform, service might be interrupted for limited periods of time between Thursday, 18 December and Tuesday, 23 December, 2008.
